Here's Wiki data about 2009 Earth Hour:
The Capital city of India, Delhi's power demand fell by 1000MW. The “phenomenal” dip is attributed to the Earth Hour observed by Delhi on Saturday evening and the rain that brought the mercury down by a few notches.....
Pretty impressive! But one hour a year?..definitely not good enough! I had written(in my previous blog) in a lighter vein about hartals in Kerala and their positive impact on the environment. The impact of 168 hartals in the year 2006 makes energy saving during Earth Hour look like a joke!
Has anyone done a study on the carbondioxide reduction during hartal?!
If anyone corroborates my idea, please make sure you give a Nobel Peace Prize to the political parties in Kerala (esp. the Left) and the prize money to me.

Well, hope u dont think keralites sleep full day on a hartal. They use all electrical equipments causing higher energy consumption and global warming. CO2 is not from vehicles alone...
