I found this article in rediff about rural India. Interesting one till I saw this table
No of households (m)
| Demographic classification | Urban | Rural | Total |
| Rich ( income greater than Rs 1 m per annum) | 4.8 | 1.3 | 6.1 |
| Well off (income greater than Rs 0.5 m per annum) | 29.5 | 27.4 | 56.9 |
| Total | 34.3 | 28.7 | 63.0 |
| % of total | 54.4% | 45.6% |

So, in total 63 million out of 1000 million people are doing great. What about the rest of 937 million people ?
ReplyDeleteAnd if we consider 60% of people live in rural india (i.e. 600 million)then, almost 571.3 million people in rural india are not well off...thats a lot i guess...wat do u think ? did u figure it out ?
And i think population of a village/town/city and its basic source of income defines it as a village/town/city and hence rural and urban...
Sorry for the mistake...i took no.of household as no. of people
ReplyDeleteTo compensate for that i need to multiply no. of household by a factor between 4 to 6 to get it somewhere there...you do the maths...
